Close to 200 people, adults and youth alike, gathered for this year's Ruck March. Several dogs even joined walkers and runners. While the weather was cold, hearts were warmed at the support and enthusiasm of all who took part.
The Ruck 22 March is an annual event held to promote awareness of soldier and veteran suicide. Participants walked with either 22 lbs. of donations or 22 items in backpacks as reminders of the 22 veterans who die each day due to suicide.
Personal care items, clothing and books were collected.
Registration fees were donated to the Michigan WWII Legacy Memorial. All backpack items were donated to Vietnam Veterans of America – Chapter 154.
The Ruck 22 March is organized by the City of Royal Oak, Michigan and we thank them for their continued support as well as VFW Acorn Post 1669 for their hospitality.
